Hi, my name is Abby and I have 5 kids, we live in the northwest and are homeschooling our children.
Right now only 2 of my kids are actually doing school. My oldest boy is in 1st grade, and my girl is just starting kindergarten. My 3 year old likes to join us and the twin boys (who are almost 18 months) take naps in the morning and afternoon so they aren't too much of a distraction. I had five kids in five and a half years.

We have never sent our kids to school. I have diligently researched homeschooling and have read over 100 books on the subjects of schools, learning, childhood development, homeschooling and the different styles of homeschooling.

I liked school as a child and enjoyed most of my public school experience (except for middle school/Jr high, which I hated). I got good grades and graduated with honors, and went to college and graduated. But I know I did not get an excellent education. I had some great teachers who I still think about and remember their subjects or lessons. I don't remember all the names and lessons of many of the others and I have some bad memories of bad teaching practices and people who should have considered a different line of work (far away from children).
My husband was homeschooled most of his life. His parents were some of the first to branch off the traditional path.
I don't think public schools are bad, but I think they are limited and have some bad practices in place (like most institutions). I want to have more flexibility and freedom in my kids education. There are so many great methods and curriculum choices that it can be overwhelming and create fear. Taking your child's education into your own hands can be intimidating.

I want to raise my children to be respectful, caring and involved citizens. People who make a difference and love people and show their love in action through service. I want to encourage my children and be supportive I do not want an adversarial relationship. I want our home to be peaceful and comforting. I am not sheltering my children from the real world, but our home will be a refuge for my kids.
I am a follower of Jesus, I am conservative in most ways but I am liberal with love towards others. I hope not to judge others (but I often fail) and I pray for more
understanding and
grace to all.
We have been blessed and I am loved no matter what.
